  • With the exception of the imposing walls and that can be seen from the outside and the steep climb to the cobbled courtyard, the building is structurally very simple and can't compare to the typical medieval castles in Piedmont. Rich in history is currently owned by the municipality of Cisterna d'Asti and been turned into a Museum of Arts and crafts of the past. On the ground floor, in the reconstruction of an old and charming piazzetta, you can see productions of old shops with reproduction of banners; from the Inn, the bakery, the bakery, tobacconist to typography. In each of the shops you can see furniture and furnishings original quite recent (800-900). Upstairs each room represents a trade with objects and tools. the Carpenter, cobbler-SADDLER, the tailor, the Builder of pipe organs and more. Unfortunately these museums are found in abundance and the exhibits are more or less always the same with nothing particularly interesting but, for those who are otherwise young like us, it's a real blast from the past and in the now distant childhood. For who is younger is an opportunity to understand how a time we lived in simplicity and respect for the environment. Everything is taken care of by some volunteers that has the merit to keep the Museum clean and tidy with just one negative note, the lack of description of the exhibits. Accompanied by a young volunteer very personable with good will but with the justifiable inexperience due to their age, all in all it was a pleasant visit and interesting. If you're lucky enough to happen to us on a nice day like us, you can enjoy a beautiful panorama in 360 degrees. Tickets cost € 5 and € 3.5 reduced. If you're in the area, it is worthwhile to stop by. The tower was not accessible because it does not fit for use. Beautiful place to reach by bike with bends and curves and, once there, convenient free parking near the entrance.

  • After lunch at a local Cistern we walked the short road that leads to this castle. Towering brick walls surrounding it, once at the top the view is really cool

  • Who goes to visit in the area of Asti, it is worth pausing to see both the Castle where there is a cistern from which it takes its name from the country. The Museum is very interesting because it proposes the old crafts typical of the area is that unfortunately are being lost. Go for it!
