  • The Friulian Dolomites have nothing to envy to other busier areas, and tourist attractions, but, being a bit out of the way and less urbanized areas, continue to retain a charm that further West went lost. There are itineraries for all tastes and of all the difficulties, both summer and winter. For many years now I attend the Friulian Dolomites in all seasons, but manage to amaze me every time.

  • In my frequent trips from Trentino Friuli I love go often Valcellina. Arrived from Valsugana in Ponte nelle Alpi and Longarone I climb up to the Vajont dam and then on up to the pass of St Oswald to get off at Cimolais, Claut, Barcis, Maniago, Montereale and. Beautiful location that the Dolomiti Friulane nature park, a Unesco World Heritage site, is rightly emphasizing for their beautiful scenery. A unique experience the spires which can be admired from the plain of Cimolais, surrounded by the spires of Monfalcone rising into the sky in the middle of a glacial basin. If it runs then, walking of course, Val Salu (in his youth, for the first part, I traveled with the Mountaineer-writer Mauro Corona of Erto), gaze remains kidnapped by the majestic <Campanile della="" val="" cimoliana="">rising solitary and hieratic, natural monument in the Park. An imposing Tower pointing towards the sky, now haunt and coveted by every fan of climbing. The dinosaur fossil footprints can be seen at Casavento, and to see the charming erosive phenomenon of <Llibri di="" san="" daniele="">2200 metres, you have to climb to an altitude on Mount Borgà. The Dolomiti Friulane nature park teems with life. Along the various routes you can find eagles (divenatte the symbol of the Park), ibex, roe deer, chamois and deer. And again: black grouse, grouse and marmots. A show within the extraordinary spectacle of nature. (GIUSEPPE CASAGRANDE)</Llibri> </Campanile>

  • Stunning scenery in a context well organized. The different paths from simple to more complex ones are all well marked. There's nothing else to say except to arm themselves with camera, suitable attire to watch the weather and not to push yourself to do routes that are too complex for their skills. You can ask for advice and directions in the shelters.
