  • Casentino forest vegetation, on a rocky cliff that rises dramatically from the ground, is this place of deep spirituality. We walk in the scenario of the wonderful Woods that surround it, we arrive at this beautiful sanctuary, place of silence and meditation, where every corner and every stone transmits the vibrations of life here is lived by Saint Francis. On the cliff the extraordinary complex appeals to you and takes you right into the soul, so is the beauty and significance spiritule around you. All of this adds an art exceptionally magnificent, clearly visible in all places of the site: the panoramic piazzale entrance, where the look goes with a breathtaking view of the Valley of the Casentino and where are all the main sites of the extraordinarily complex; the main church, the small church of Santa Maria degli Angeli and the chapel of the stigmata, admirable art caskets, della Robbia art pottery glazed in particular; the corridor of the stigmata, richly frescoed with scenes from the life of St. Francis. Beyond that, a blessed and wonderful nature shows us among lush vegetation, unique charm places: the cave of St. Francis, the precipice and Sasso in prominent, where everything seems to contravene the laws of nature. Spend time in this beautiful place, attend engaging and ancient Procession of the stigmata, leaves you speechless, leading to a profound reflection. By staying there, a place of life and spirituality, highly recommended, to be repeated!

  • La Verna ... I had the good fortune to meet this lovely place few years ago thanks to my family and every time we come back around the fixed destination is definitely a visit to La Verna. All shrines have something special, but La Verna even more! Usually we go to November and this year we came right on 1, for the holiday. Many people were there but always keeping silence and respect, it was a pleasure to revisit. Leaving the car at the first parking lot we had a nice walk in the Woods, gorgeous with autumn colors until you reach the sanctuary. We attended the mass and enjoyed the wonderful view of the Valley. I made small purchases in little shop of the shrine. Is a place where I'd spend hours wandering around and see where she lived San Francesco leaves you speechless and think a lot. And returns home with a unique inner peace. I love this site and I recommend you check them out. You'll be delighted!

  • This is a beautiful place!!!! It has such rich tradition with Saint Francis where he prayed and received the stigmata. It is here or near here that Saint Bonaventure wrote the Journey into God.
  • I personally liked the Sanctuary, even though its massive structure feels a little sovietic in parts. The visit to the small chapels and the frescoed alley is interesting, as is the view over the valley.
  • I hope one day I could visit La Verna

  • Quiet and nice view. I'll explain why in a Franciscan sanctuary dogs not permitted, not even on the square. But Francis was not pet friendly?
