  • Sitting atop a sacred mountain, the structure is a Franciscan sanctuary. Here you can retrace some steps of St Francis, also by frescoes, see one of the places (cave) where he slept. Here received the stigmata. Guided by the Franciscan friars with simple volunteered. There is also a section dedicated to guest house with en suite rooms. Presence of the refectory is for guests that for stopovers (there is a fixed-price tourist menu with a choice of 4 starters, 5 seconds, two side dishes and fruit. But I haven't seen neither the amount nor the quality). Making the visit alone (without cost) you can devote approximately 1 hour and a half. If you want to deepen or meditate or pray ... times per person! We visited during the week and there were not many visitors. Imagine that on feast days there might be an influx of people. But the venue pushes to silence and respect for others.

  • "La Verna" it is a unique place for anyone, whether Christian or not, whether believer or not, practicing or not, the air you breathe as the atmosphere is intense, especially if the visit takes place in periods with low turnout, at sunset from the maximum of if.

  • The sanctuary in the strict sense is a basilica built on a ridge of rock. A unique charm, surrounded by a forest virtually untouched for centuries.

  • This is a beautiful place!!!! It has such rich tradition with Saint Francis where he prayed and received the stigmata. It is here or near here that Saint Bonaventure wrote the Journey into God.
  • I personally liked the Sanctuary, even though its massive structure feels a little sovietic in parts. The visit to the small chapels and the frescoed alley is interesting, as is the view over the valley.
  • I hope one day I could visit La Verna

  • Quiet and nice view. I'll explain why in a Franciscan sanctuary dogs not permitted, not even on the square. But Francis was not pet friendly?
