Giardino Bellini, Catania
(4.2/5 based on 750+ reviews on the web)
Climb the patterned cobblestone steps of the hillside Giardino Bellini, the oldest of four gardens on the way into Catania. Here you'll find ample flowerbeds, lush hedges landscaped into patterns, shaded boulevards, and benches and fountains inviting rest. It's impossible to forget the date here, thanks to the hillside clock and date display, spelled out in plants that change every day. The garden's intricate paths are a legacy of the 18th century, when popular interest in both reason and imagination led to a taste for beguiling mazes. From the very top of the hill you'll be able to see the sea and Mt. Etna rising out of the clouds. Arrange your visit to Giardino Bellini and discover more family-friendly attractions in Catania using our Catania tourist route planner.

  • The main villa of Catania, named after the famous composer Carter is one of the most beautiful public gardens in Sicily, rich in history and fascinating sights, from Art Nouveau to the cloister of marble busts representing the major personalities of Catania from the past. Today, however, this park looks neglected, sometimes dirty, and did not care that a site like this deserves. A call to municipal administration, to make Villa Bellini come again to shine like it!

  • This is an inner city park that is not small, but not large either. Nonetheless it was pretty and had two features that attracted my eye: the pretty fountain in the middle and the current date embedde...  more »
  • To make a small walk, meet friends not seen since a long time ... all within easy reach of the city centre and overlooks Via Etnea (the main street of the city).

  • Any elegant formal park with many statues and fountains but also the best childrens play we found in Catania
  • A welcome break from the urban jungle. Plenty of benches and a nice playground. Better maintained than most parks.
  • A big and great park. Huge space. Even has some training stuff and a playground for kids. Also a very good place to go to, relax and read a book.
  • A beautiful little park in the heart of the city.
  • Some shades in the middle of the city.
