  • It's an attractive a fountain that you'll see in any square in Europe- no more, no less. When taken in with the "elephant" and the Duomo, you can't help but be drawn to it. Great for photo-op.
  • I would call this fountain: unique, although not an impressive monument it is really beautiful and classic, surrounded by beautiful buildings. do not miss visiting this part of catania

  • Dedicated and powered by the anonymous river flowing under the city due to an eruption that has literally buried. In Piazza Duomo designed in 1867 by Neapolitan sculptor Tito Angelini with Carrara marble. Consisting of a large tub in the shape of a shell on which stands a young man (Customizing the Amenano River) which supports a cornucopia from which pops out of the water that goes into the hot pan below. Further down under the well rounded you can notice two newts that collect the water that flows in the shells that carry on their shoulders. The clamshell tub rests on a plinth decorated on one side by a shield with the coat of arms and on the other by a shield with the word water, Amenano 1867. The locals call this fountain "linzolu water" because of its uniqueness or the cascading effect of the water that comes out is compact and slim form a transparent veil to be compared to a sheet. Much choreography. In summer it is very crowded because it offers some cool to the vaporization of water and spills. In 2015 at the home of the blackening of smog and some ruined and damaged by various causes underwent a restoration. Behind the fountain a lava stone staircase will lead you to Enjoy (old fish market) then it not strange if during weekday mornings will feel an intense smell of fish and screaming in the background. Nice color: black lava stone stairway that contrasts with the white Carrara marble fountain. The fountain in the corner does not seem to steal the show at the most famous fountain o' Liotru placed at the center of the square. Is always passing by any route you decide to do for downtown but despite this it is common to miss or do not give proper attention and regard it as a fountain. Anyone visiting Catania cannot but pause to look at it not only for its beauty that can be subjective, but because it is the only place where you can admire the way the Amenano (underground river -2 metres below ground level) in fact besides being powered by the same river under the fountain we find an arc that collects water that falls into the Amenano itself.

  • Lovely fountain.
  • A very pretty sight!
  • Symbol of the city of Catania and the old town. Known as "the water or linzolu" pours out its water on an underground river. It is also the entrance to the fish market. Absolutely recommended a picture for tourists who want to take away a memory in Catania.

  • This fountain, called by Locals "the water or linzolu" feeding and pours its waters into the river Amenano, underground river whose course has been modified the course countless times by various lava flows. The river comes out in some parts of the city and its current course is not fully understood.

  • Very nice fountain, although nineteenth-century invoice perfectly recreates a certain Renaissance. Nice waterfall effect of the water falling into the river Amenano in one of the few points where citizens are still visible. Surrounding area should however be taken with more care to be able to enjoy better.
