  • This ancient Church, rebuilt after the earthquake of late seventeenth century, does not retain much of the ancient temple first Norman Cathedral. A marble sarcophagus is said to have been the first place of burial of the Virgin Saint Agatha, by offering a fine bust, replica of that most precious of the Cathedral and an eighteenth-century oil painting of the apparition of St. Peter to the Virgin Agatha. Other stone inserts recall the martyrdom of the Saint, the history of the Church and the crypt early Christian burials. The nave is preserved a sober neoclassical style in white cream runs.

  • The Church, located in Central Catania, one of her characters. Perhaps one of the few places that paints the Skating (my subjective opinion, that there is a more beautiful city of Catania). The Church is dedicated to the patroness of the city of Saint Agatha. It is believed that St. Agatha repeatedly saved the city during the strongest eruptions of Etna. Therefore, be sure to add the Church to its list of places to visit.

  • Important for its long history, although the reconstructions have taken away a good portion, today stands out most for uniqueness and importance as some did at one time. To visit only if passing through.

  • It's probably the first church dedicated ti Saint Agatha. The interior hosts several noticeable artworks.
  • The sacred building, dates back to the year 264 ad, and this is the first temple dedicated to the patroness of Catania.
