  • Last year we found it closed, this year I had to go twice and finally someone was there. Third floor apartment in a nondescript building and very little reported although I found two staff!. I was alone so I could visit her dwelling in the rooms, comfortable and precise aided by audio guide. The second floor contains books and robes of 800 but is not open to visitors.

  • Rod's House was for me, passionate writer scholar, a great emotion, so much so that traveling to Catania, I wanted to visit it before other most famous monuments. However, it is strange that the House does not expose any document autograph and, above all, that custody is entrusted to the staff courteous and less competent, yet don't want to even look at the private University website page, visible from the mobile, that my daughter's inscription attested in the Faculty of letters, claiming a "paper" which, as everyone knows, no longer exists. This created an unpleasant tension, increased when the same has been roundly criticised for having touched by none other than an iron chest, not the antique furniture in the House. Giovanni Verga deserves better, both for the abandoned outside the building, both for the non existent signage for tourists, either for the keepers. Yet another wasted opportunity. I forgot: the feast of the Epiphany the House was closed, a sign that is considered a monument of little importance. Nemo propheta in patria!

  • Visit interesting although I've never been particularly fond of Verga! The House-Museum is well maintained. Available free audio guide included in the ticket. Entrance adult: € 4 (updated December 2016)

  • Although not a milestone in Catania, expresses well the style that Rod has maintained throughout his life.
