Really lovely, a mix between panoramic sea views, history and characteristic features. It is worth making you a jump not only to go to sea, but going up a bit we will visit a really nice town with Castle etc.

Disappointed by the visit of the Grotta Zinzulusa, we decided to visit the old town of Castro. We looked forward to the afternoon opening of the Aragonese castle (15:00), consuming great cocktails at bar close. The castle with its Museum, clear guidance and well prepared has enabled us to know about the origins of the city of Castro while passing by the temple to Athena/Minerva that assumes to be present in the area. This presence would demonstrate that Aeneas has landed right around here (Virgil's Aeneid). Finally, from the castle terrace you can enjoy a beautiful view over the city of Castro.

  • They just opened an archeological museum that's worth a visit.
  • Beautiful view of the surroundings. Rising costs € 2 per person.

  • The beautiful impression I have always received from Castro, which is beautiful and full of history and inhabited by people educated and very civilized it sadly ruined by the rudeness of the Lady at the ticket counter of the Museum site in the Aragonese castle. Having entered, my family and I in the rooms facing the courtyard of the Museum have been reprimanded by the custodian not having a ticket. There were no clear indications, the ticket office was not at the entrance but sideways and barely visible. And anyway it was not necessary to say, and I quote: "in any Museum in the world you pay the ticket". I don't know who took this employee but I assure you it's not up to the tasks it performs. Aside from the fact that in hundreds of castles which hovisitato you can enter into the lobby and then find the Ticket Office see the Museo medievale di Matera, but none, other than this cafona, I've never been treated so badly.
