  • Reads the slogan that characterizes this wonderful country created by Cardinal Branda Castiglioni during the Renaissance and in fact it feels just like in Tuscany. An extraordinary place unfortunately little valued.

  • Although D'Annunzio defined this beautiful 15th-century village "the island of Tuscany in Lombardy", giving it a truly realistic interpretation, much remains to be done, in my view, to enhance it and make it known on a wider scale. Apart from some important event, that calls people from everywhere, and a commendable literary award, I don't know how well known, I must say that many don't know about Castiglione Olona, its alleys, its courts, history and art. I had the opportunity to make the acquaintance, when the daughter of my brother attended art school. During all years of College, we wandered to Italy which I define "minor", not as it is, but because it is more niche art. Bring our friends Californians was a nice return, enjoyed by all, especially the beautiful Collegiate Church, which I will review separately. Commendable village, don't miss it.

  • Anchored at the bottom of a small valley, this village stands out, yet already wonderful in this region by its side preserved, its unity of style, and an atmosphere that boasts pride of a past rich in culture. Small town in the middle age built by the will of a Milan cardinal who tried to gather in this place works of art and faith. Let caught you by her charm as you walk in from the streets to the too few passers-by. Small café down the village and alongside original bookstore held by a passionara of politically engaged culture and feminism. We could not visit the frescoes of the Abbey which closes be noon and 3 p.m., but outside, like the rest of the village is worth a visit.
