  • Beautiful Abbey of medieval style, beautiful paintings inside, with three naves, to visit if you go over there

  • Castiglione a Casauria is a small municipality of Abruzzo where stands the Abbey of San Clemente, one of the most important monastic buildings of the region. Easily reached from the A25 motorway, exiting at "Casauria-Torre dei Passeri". More than a religious building looks like a Palace. Erected in 871 by the Emperor Louis II, as votive offerings, miraculously escaped the captivity through the intercession of father Adrian II. Rebuilt in the 12th century, has a façade divided into three arches, with porch, large atrium and portals decorated with sculptures. The interior retains a beautiful "Ambo" (small elevated grandstand that saliva person trained to read the sacred texts), an elegant candelabra, an altar made of a early Christian sarcophagi and the beautiful crypt. It's a real Museum, given the presence of all these works of art preserved as in a casket in the charming interior. To see.

  • Imperial Foundation, nerve center of power relations in medieval Abruzzo, bears witness to the succession of political and military games (not least the advent of the Normans), the Abbey is a clear reference in the varied and extensive historical material culture and Abruzzo. The visit allows you to appreciate the majestic simplicity of Romanesque d'Abruzzo. For those who want to venture out to discover the life of the monastery, I would recommend reading the Chronicon Casauriense.
