Tenuta Casanova, Castellina In Chianti

Categories: Wineries & Vineyards, Food & Drink
Inspirock Rating:
4.7/5 based on 220+ reviews on the web
Tucked among the rolling, sun-drenched hills of Tuscany, Tenuta Casanova is the perfect place to discover unusual wines as well as local extra-virgin olive oil, honey, and balsamic vinegar. This land had been farmed for a thousand years when Abbot Sprugnoli developed a thriving business producing and selling wines, oils, and vin santo to local monasteries and congregations. Today, you can taste wines like the Chianti Classico, Super Tuscan, and the strawberry-tinged dessert wine Easy to Fall in Love. Take a cooking class where you'll learn to cook typical Chianti dishes, such as fresh pasta, potato gnocchi with traditional sauces, flans, and tiramisu--all expertly paired with complementary wines. • We could not believe what a find this was. The hotel we stayed at booked us a 4:30 tour at casa Emma. So I went on Trip advisor to find other wineries and came across this one. We drove right over and...  read more »

  • Silvano and his staff were excellent. A personalised tour of the grounds, which are magnificent. The tasting lunch was paired with wines, olive oil and balsamic vinegars - outstanding. I will never be able to eat supermarket balsamic vinegar again. I bought his wine and vinegar and cannot wait to consume. Highly recommend a visit.
  • Our entire experience here was phenomenal - from the food and wine, to meeting Mia the truffle hunting dog. Sylvano and his wife were exceptional hosts and we can't wait to visit again.
  • I shipped exceptional wines and the most amazing "30" year old Balsamic vinegars home to the U.S.A.. I am excited to continue purchasing the products via web. Thank you Silvano for a delicious memory. Bellissima!!! Una tenuta spettacolare!
  • We spent almost 3 hours having lunch here in the most perfect of Tuscan surroundings. The food was exceptional (all 7 dishes) and the wine its equal. The truly amazing part was the balsamic vinegar served both with pork and later with vanilla ice cream. Most of the food comes directly from the block of land where you are sitting and the cellar beneath your feet ages the wine. And the whole package for less than a bottle of mid range wine in a central Florence restaurant.
  • Beautiful venue, fabulous food, extraordinary wines and a passionate host!
