  • Moving from main street is not so obvious that this is an attraction. But we must store the name Castellina in Chianti, maybe get there on Saturday morning because there is a fabulous market where you can find all the best local food production. Maybe at other times it is easier to find parking, but you can get there one way or another. The Center is small and the fortress is situated in a slightly elevated location, a matter of a few metres. But if you are attracted by the beautiful shops of course ends to get to the end of the village and one wonders what happened to the fortress, which is right there above, imposing, Queen of a square large and beautiful. Castellina in the Middle Ages was one of the strongholds of the Chianti fiorentino, then was destroyed by the Sienese allied with the Duke of Milan and then rebuilt by the Florentines, while now part with pride (or so it seems) of the province of Siena. What you see today is a good part of the rebuilding of Florence, of course with subsequent adaptations of maintenance required, but the rock is still there waiting to be admired, visited and photographed during a tour of Chianti that by car or motorbike is always an amazing experience.
