  • Home of Rudolph Valentino (1895-1926), perhaps the most famous actor of the silent era and preserves the birthplace and to which he dedicated a monument quite questionable, the town is situated on the flanks of a hill overlooking a broad say gravina, a crevasse carved into the limestone depths over 100 meters wide and about 350. Was founded in medieval times and became an Episcopal seat in 1088. On the promontory overlooking the city and portions of two historic centre stands the Cathedral of the assumption, built between the 13th and 14th century and completely rebuilt in the 18th century in addition to survivor Romanesque Bell Tower with elegant arches and large mullioned Windows, the three naves covered by a beautiful painted wooden ceiling and decorated with fine works of art. In the nearby Vesvovado, 18th-century building that probably originally served as a castle, houses an interesting polyptych painted in 1531 by Girolamo Santacroce depicting the Virgin Mary, Angels, Saints and Apostles. The Church of the assumption, at the beginning of the settlement features a fine Romanesque doorway surmounted by a canopy and the nave retains traces of century frescoes.

  • Nice place but nothing great. Still remains in my opinion a place to see if you pass the village of Rudolph Valentino.

  • Town with few attractions ... also the statue of Valentino is controversial ... If you have nothing to do I recommend a good book ...
