  • So no one doubts the beauty the historical importance of this church but honestly the price of ticket 5 euros we sounded slightly overdone .... like us others, they waived the visit, such as the magnificent cathedrals of Tuscania equally beautiful have no entrance fee ... a village so small already attracts few tourists then with a tariff that high will be even less ... maybe once Council arrived on l place to take a stroll to the trough of the grinding wheel

  • A few dozen kilometers from Viterbo, Tuscia in wonderful, there is the small village of Castel Sant'Elia. Here, in the early 11th century, the Abbot Elia built this church is a national monument and one of the most beautiful in the whole Latium. It is in Romanesque style and is located, so the legend, in the place where the Emperor Nero had to erect a temple to the goddess Diana. After the opening of the new Church of Saint Anthony, the Church suffered a period of decline that lasted until 1855, the date of the collapse of the tower. Under Pope Pius IX the architect Virginio Vespignani the restored; successive restorations were made in 1960 and in 1994. Of great interest is the crypt, which includes two areas: one with the tomb of Saint Nonnoso's day, the other with the tomb of Saint Anastasius. Very nice interior and beautiful and interesting frescoes, the best preserved of all the Roman churches of Lazio. However, a basilica to see, adding to the cultural tour also a gastronomic tour and landscape, given the close proximity of Nepi and the nearby Lake Bolsena.
