  • The Museum is small but is interesting thanks to the guides who accompanied our visit. Worth a visit to the amphitheatre (inside), but possibly also the theater that is located outside the structure. Personally I have been "kidnapped" by the explanations of the keeper Sandro who competently and ardour provides details and information about the site.

  • The National Archaeological Museum Gianfilippo Carettoni of Cassino is outside the remit of the Soprintendenza per i beni archeologici del Lazio, its foundation stone of the structure that houses the archaeological museum was laid on the occasion of the 18th anniversary of the destruction of Cassino during World War II. The construction work had many delays and was completed only in the late 1970s, the opening of the Museum took place in 1979. In the year 2003 the Museum is entitled to Gianfilippo Carettoni, archaeologist who gave a fundamental imprint to studies on "Casinum" beyond those already made at the end of 700 from FR Flavio Della Marra and early 900 by Luigi Pigorini. Gianfilippo Carettoni linked his name mainly to the rediscovery and valorisation of the Roman Theatre of Cassino: to the point that he carried out excavations and studies published subsequently make a sustaining contributor for the city. The Museum consists of an area of more than 500 m ² arranged into three halls and a lapidarium situated downstairs, although already in the garden you will find an interesting collection of architectural fragments, mostly pertaining to tombs and inscriptions.

  • Three employees from 37 years in the vain expectation to receive visitors, seem to me to be a huge amount! The entrance ticket to the small museum and small archaeological area is 2 euros. After a brief tour at the Museum, always followed by employees, insist on making us see the footage of the amphitheatre: 7 minutes of total boredom! At some point we get to wake up a bit. In the garden in front of the amphitheatre, we find another clerk sitting on a park bench, busy on the phone: but all these people pay us!! We proceed on the Roman road to get to the center of the Amphitheater in the middle of the brush (as all those employees have nothing to do all day, couldn't they at least cut grass?). We reverse the route in search of the tomb of Ummidia as we reach the supposed Guide, which gives us a few explanations and very confusing. The Augustan Theater adjacent to the parking lot is owned by the city, which no longer occupies and is therefore left to drift and closed to visitors. Congratulations!

  • The price of the entry is really cheap, so definitely worthy!!! The museum and the lapidarium are really nice, but the amphitheatre and the mausoleum are astonishing!!!
  • Worth a quick visit, interesting place. 4 stars because there I used to play as a child, and there are still bad when I found out that to return to the places of my infancy you have to pay
