  • Castle small but impressive with striking views over Tuscany. It was home to the Inquisition, one sees the court rooms and torture and prisons. Held up well and with interesting descriptions. To visit.

  • It recently opened a new exhibition in a museum that has already started and much visited, but wanted to innovate deeply fulfilling a tour route of innovation, where technological applications are integrated with a system of panels didactic. Through multitouch, holograms, videomapping tables and interactive stations, visitors can reconstruct the history of the Castle, exploring the fascinating salt, the prison and its secret. You enter the fortress through a flight of 95 steps; half of it is a cistern built in 1448 and surmounted by the crest of the Picts, and the stopovers, vicar of Lari. The structure currently visible dates from the first half of the seventeenth century. In the square of the Fort with high walls brick-built embankments, stands strongly the Praetorian Palace with the façade still covered with numerous coats of arms of various successive Podesta in Lari. The yard also has a chapel. Frequently the fortress hosts in its exhibition halls ranging from painting to poetry, and even displays of war relics. The castle can be visited all year round, with different schedules for different times of the year are possible both free guided visits. I had the opportunity to visit this place several times, but the set up recently by much improved site fruibilitaà

  • The castello dei Vicari of Lari is a destination worth considering if you want to visit a castle well preserved (the long renovation works were completed only a few years ago). From the beautiful village of Lari (and) there is a magnificent panorama that includes Livorno, Pisa, Volterra, Pontedera. The perimeter of the walls of the castle is accessible and there are explanatory signs to identify the main resorts. In the Castle courtyard exposes the coats of arms of more than 90 families. In the same courtyard there is a small church which has a distinctive feature: five cells with loopholes that allowed the prisoners to attend religious ceremonies. The entrance to the castle is free for children up to 10 years. On Backpacks Curious (zainetticuriosi.blogspot.it) we have told our tour of the castle with the kids.

  • Amazing views of the country side. Highly recommend a walk around the Castello and enjoy the views
  • Very rude personnel. Castle definitely worth seeing from the outside, not inside
  • Piccolo e inquietante...da visitare!
  • A pretty typical village with in its center the remains of a castle overlooking the breathtaking. Don't forget to buy the famous Martelli pasta!

  • Beautiful double wall perfectly preserved. The Castle, built with the function of being a power Center in the area, is located on the hilltop of Lari, where you can check all the Valdarno. One of the most beautiful castles in Italy I think, despite not taking a typically medieval aspect, since it was remodeled in ' 400 and 600.
