  • The castle has had so many updated and improvements over the past 15 years. It is great to see what has been happening and to learn about the history of this beautiful place.  more »
  • We were there on a Sunday and the castle was closed for visitors. But, we could walk up to almost the top and walk all around the castle on/along the wall. The scenery was great. Well worth the effort...  more »

  • Amazing views of the country side. Highly recommend a walk around the Castello and enjoy the views
  • Very rude personnel. Castle definitely worth seeing from the outside, not inside
  • Interesting history.
  • In the Centre of the village of lari stands the massive silhouette of the castle of the Vicar, already documented in the early Middle Ages, although the present structure is from the first half of the ' 600. Thanks to its dominant position over the Valdarno it was an important military garrison of the Pisan Republic until it was conquered by Florence in 1406. The castle is defended by a wall with three gates: Porta Fiorentina and Porta Pisana and Volterrana gate; the latter was the main way of access to the village and was equipped with a drawbridge, eliminated then in 1798. Landscape from the castle's splendid: "I came to Lari and his fortress showed vast country, the nicest part of Tuscany", said the Grand Duke of Tuscany Leopold II when he visited this country.

  • Beautiful construction perfectly preserved and accessible in the Centre of the beautiful village of Lari strategic position on the Arno plain that is appreciated so astounding from wall Sin for non-Museum of interiors, but the visit to the Castle and still interesting and properly documented. Free access gave the space a significance from sociability to visit. Only in a surprising context
