Basilica di Santa Rita, Cascia

(4.4/5 based on 650+ reviews on the web)
Basilica di Santa Rita is a minor basilica housing the relics of St. Rita, as well as numerous frescoes and bas-reliefs depicting her life and work. Ascend the hill of St. Augustine and climb a short flight of steps to reach the white travertine facade--inside, you'll find ornate works of art, a majestic organ, and the sarcophagus of St. Rita, which lies behind a narrow door leading into the old Church of the Blessed Rita. The marble-based sarcophagus was carved by Eros Pillini, and features four angels representing the cardinal virtues. • Even for those who, like me, didn't particularly appeal to faith, this place has something magical, as well as all Cascia. Puts at peace with yourself and makes you look inside.

  • Maybe by not knowing how to get Brazilians to visit little Basilica of Santa Rita and in Brazil there are many devotees who would love to go there. The easiest way to get there is by car. There is a huge parking (at the bottom). Already in the parking lot you will see many shops with medals, pictures, roses etc. Better buy some medals for the Basilica and bless. There are also cafés, bars and restrooms. Then you should climb by escalators and elevators to get to the top. Cascia is a tiny town that is divided into high and low. The Basilica is on the high end and cannot pass car, residents only. IS ZTL. The high end is full of restaurants, bars and shops and Basilica of Santa Rita has tb the Basilica with the sacrament of the Eucharistic Miracle of Cascia and a beautiful Nativity scene. The Basilica of Santa Rita is well marked and you will arrive without much difficulty. It's a beautiful church and nothing impressive, beautiful inside, with historical documents to the document in which Pope Pius XII recognized as santa the Santa Rita (written in Latin). There are also intact inside a Crystal URN the body of Santa Rita. If u want to bring flowers or photos, etc. you can leave a small door on the side and the iron gate, then someone removes and places inside, near the Santa. Not usually full or queues. The site brings much peace and devotees should view this church. Recommend.
