  • In November the castle is closed. Open from March to October. All in all a castle like so many others. Maybe it goes visited in summer ...

  • The castle was completely restored after the damage suffered during the second world war. To fully understand its historical significance "Matilda" is necessary a guided tour which is cheap. The Castle built in the middle ages architectural characters glimpse of time and building materials that largely were wooden, therefore what remains is only the walls and the load-bearing walls.

  • Impressive in a November evening! Carpiteti Castle, now owned by the province of Reggio Emilia, is a castle built in a strategic position, dating back to the 11th century. It was the residence of Matilda of Canossa the ancient castle is still surmounted by a tower and all around there are remnants of ancient feudal residences; You can also admire the Romanesque church dedicated to Saint Andrew, still well preserved. The climb to the castle is a narrow uphill of pebbles that winds through the stone houses of the medieval borghetto. I've been a November evening, with fog and lights in the dusk, which made the whole thing extremely impressive! By sharing your experiences, you'll help other travellers to make the best choices and plan trips of their dreams. Thank you!
