  • The crypt is one of the oldest evidence of Salento where the traditions of the East and the Latin rite. Contains a fresco cycle in which, more unique than rare, is indicated on the client, the motivation, the painter and date. Obviously being the frescoes vecchietti a thousand years does not expect the perfect preservation, but are fairly well preserved to enjoy the detail and vibrancy of the gaze. A special mention goes to the Association that takes care of opening and visit, for which it is necessary to call the number that appears on a sign on the gate. A polite Lady sent us a volunteer who opened and made as a guide to the vault, making the visit much more satisfactory. If you are interested in the history of this piece of Italy that blends East and West, interested in the medieval painting or simply lovers of history and artistic suggestions, certainly worth a visit.

  • We came by chance on the feast of the Wine of September 2, the village is gorgeous, full of ancient buildings in the Baroque style in Lecce, by accident we visited a newly restored period underground hypogeum oil mill. The Byzantine Chapel of Santa Cristina del 950 with important frescoes and fabulous is well maintained, there is an area dedicated to Saint Marina in requesting the healings. the crypt was later changed and ruined by Christians who added an altar in pietra leccese Baroque marble dedicated to our Lady of grace, completely covering the frescoes of great value. The Church is consecrated to still celebrate the mass. The Festival was organized very well by the people perfectly, even there was active participation by the children. Definitely worth visiting
