  • Beautiful crypt richly frescoed Byzantine style, testifies with scrupulous art. It is set as before, with two aisles and three apses; very nice central altar fresco depicting the Virgin girl with hands and face archaic. The visit is free and comprehensively explained to clever highly trained volunteers. To visit absolutely!

  • The Byzantine crypt is very interesting, the frescoes are of considerable value and above all there is an explanation for each. The visit is free, just call the Association that runs it. Beautiful.

  • The crypt is one of the oldest evidence of Salento where the traditions of the East and the Latin rite. Contains a fresco cycle in which, more unique than rare, is indicated on the client, the motivation, the painter and date. Obviously being the frescoes vecchietti a thousand years does not expect the perfect preservation, but are fairly well preserved to enjoy the detail and vibrancy of the gaze. A special mention goes to the Association that takes care of opening and visit, for which it is necessary to call the number that appears on a sign on the gate. A polite Lady sent us a volunteer who opened and made as a guide to the vault, making the visit much more satisfactory. If you are interested in the history of this piece of Italy that blends East and West, interested in the medieval painting or simply lovers of history and artistic suggestions, certainly worth a visit.
