  • Although today everything was perfect, day, temperature we (2 adults and three girls 16, 14, 12 years) opted for a trip to the Twin Lakes Retreat from Carona. Despite Saturday and Sunday morning I had tried to book a table for 5 was told that such service was not being rendered and that the Hall opened at 12.00, sufficing show up at that hour. Regularly I introduced myself entering shelter at 12.00 and to my surprise I noticed the room already full, and no person in the queue outside. Despite the staff had invited back after 1 hour, in the absence of any reception and rostering adjusted I walked three times in the Hall to see if someone was coming to an end. Once they have agreed with the gentlemen their exit I called family members for the seat, but the bartender invited me to get out because he called her in the queue function which in the meantime had arisen outside the Hall. From 12.30 till 13.00 are therefore left in the queue outside the room. Meanwhile my daughter mizen had a drop in hypothermic and only thanks to the professionalism of Michele (Medical Assistant), whom I thank for the proximity and professionalism, which was located on site and the availability of rifugista and of a doctor, who gave us a wool blanket and helpful advice, daughter, lying on the floor in the bathroom in front of the dining room He recovered color and temperature. Meanwhile my 3rd daughter had gotten the desired table, at 13.30!. Despite never ask a fast service for my daughter, and the daughter, who had gained a great deal of stress for the incident, the Hall manager told me that before our table had entered other consumers and that I would have to wait. Only after he raised his voice and reprimanded for poor sensitivity after the incident he took orders. We had lunch at 13.50, after desperately had taken the bar and some sugar bread from the table next to my two daughters that just weren't right. As far as eating gnocchi with mushrooms I took they knew only of sauce. Two of my daughters of uncooked pasta al pomodoro ... and second stew of boars brought no polenta, tender but ruined by happened ... I would say that before going to the rifugio Laghi Gemelli should first figure out whether it will be a crowded day or less since the service is absolutely incapable of managing shifts and entrances to the Hall, stretching out a veil on the sensitivity of Rep. ..

  • Starting from rifugio Laghi Gemelli Carona was in about 2-2 .30 hours. This is a good hike, a bit challenging for those untrained only in the first part of the path in the Woods (due to the slope that still requires a minimum of breath), but still quiet in the second half of the course and interesting to propose on summer weekends, families with children in tow. The less energetic advise against leaving under the scorching sun, as during my descent I came across more people, novice, in obvious difficulty for the Hill covered with afternoon heat of August, without even a bottle of water. It seems an obvious consideration, but I don't think it's fair to complicate your life when you have no training and no one knows what to expect. Early in the morning we climb with fresh and it is quite another thing for the more sedentary. The influx of people is remarkable, in the weekend of August you'll struggle to find free places to eat at the shelter, if you arrive too late (already at 12.30 -13 fills). Alternatively, you can have your own lunches on the forecourt of the hut or near the Lake. Anyway, we ate at the lodge, the service suffers some slowness, but with numerous covered is understandable. Good platters of cold cuts, pork also good beer. A bit strange that do not serve coffee and bad taste to the table, but they raise him up at the bar. We enjoyed it, even though it was a little too crowded.

  • When spring/summer every weekend is good to discover a corner of our Italy and why not in the mountains and our choice fell on Twin Lakes. We start from Milan and in poso over 2 hours we arrived. We begin our hike, not a little challenging, but once you get the show repays the effort made. There is the perfect hideaway of Twin Lakes and breathtaking.

  • Great place where spend spring and summer days
  • Bel posto, raggiungibile facilmente dalle baite di mezzeno.
  • Enchanted and uncontaminated. The hut can be reached from multiple locations, the two most used and shorter paths are those departing from the village of Carona and the village of Roncobello. The first trail less challenging, but not simple if not just barely trained, it takes about 3 hours and the second, from Roncobello, it has stretches of steep and is percorribile in 2 hours (without ever stopping) I believe doable if you is a little training and not necessarily climbers. The refuge has enviable cuisine restaurant to many, for the most lazy can be reached by helicopter. Nearby Council 250 trail leading to a tour of the Lakes accessible also in a couple of hours, you can see the Lakes Caesar-rotten-beak and Colombo to then return to the refuge.

  • You eat really well, thanks to the Cook very good. Too bad it's too popular with dog owners rude: mandatory respect for silence from 22 to 7, but dogs instead are free to bark even at 6 ... so much to them everything is permitted. and their bosses don't care to make them stop. By day then ... It's all a barking ... We stayed in August 2016. The prices are a bit high. at the end are at least € 50 for half board (including drinks and sleeping sheet on tnt). The place however is very nice!

  • A beautiful hike, not playing from Carona. The place is really impressive. At 2000 meters with the Lakes to keep us company. We dined in the shelter and then slept in a tent under the stars. Dinner was great, staff friendly and helpful. You have to book.
