  • The placement does not allow to appreciate from outside its grandeur and beauty outside. But the Interior is spectacular. Entering from Porta Pia is situated just on the left.

  • A Pearl in the quaint and picturesque historical centre of Cariati. To get there advice to park at the blockhouse walls under the ice. Very nice to get the walls and enter the country. The Cathedral then does not disappoint. If only the dome from the outside is beautiful.

  • The historic centre of Cariati is quaint. Is enclosed in a castle of which even today we can see on the side. In the centre there is the Cathedral of St Michael Archangel commissioned by Archbishop Goliath. I must say that it is worth a visit. Candler was a pleasant surprise.

  • Beautiful Cathedral with paintings and frescoes. There are statues of Saints of ancient workmanship as evidence of popular belief. Very impressive to visit.

  • The Cathedral of the Archangel Michael is the main place of Catholic worship of Cariati. Cathedral until 1986 the Diocese of Cariati, today is the Cathedral of the Archdiocese of Rossano-Cariati. Medieval Foundation, was originally dedicated to St Peter. He was the Bishop of Cariati Nicola Goliath (1839-1873) to want to transform into a neoclassical Temple, confirming its devotion to Saint Michael Archangel, enshrined in 1741 by Bishop Carlo Ronchi. Among the works of the Cathedral is the Baroque choir stalls, carved wooden busts of the eighteenth century, and of San Pietro and San Leonardo. The Interior has three naves separated by ionic columns arranged in pairs. In each side aisle there are three altars. Of particular interest are the chapels dedicated to San Cataldo and the Blessed Sacrament, the latter with a marble altar in Baroque operas of the Neapolitan school of the ' 700. On the high altar there is a painting of the assumption of the Virgin Mary, Calabrian painter Raphael Aloisio. On the ceiling of the nave is depicted Saint Michael the Archangel who casts out Lucifer and the rebel Angels from heaven, performed in 1912 by the Neapolitan artist Louis T. (Source: Wikipedia)
