  • The villa is located in a wonderful place: overlooking the sea at the highest point in the North of the island on the Hill of Tiberius. In fact, nearby there are the remains of the Villa Jovis of the 1st century AD the Roman Emperor Tiberius. It is also known as Villa Fersen, the French baron who voluntarily exiled on the island, in the early 20th century, to escape the scandals that had engulfed in their own country. He ordered the construction of this beautiful villa by the architect Chimot. After having initially called "La Gloriette", attributed the name of "Villa Lysis (Lysis disciple of Socrates) in reference to its connection with the young lover, Nino Cesarini. It was built in the early 20th century art nouveau, neo-Gothic and neoclassical styles but is affected. It is accessed via a wide staircase leading to a portico supported by four ionic columns. The Latin inscription on the architrave "Amori et dolori sacrum" (sacred place to love and pain) that perfectly reflects the lifestyle of the Baron. The Interior is classic style with its arches and domed roofs, while the main staircase, leading to the bedrooms on the first floor, is in art nouveau style. The villa is located in a fabulous garden comprising of beautiful fountains with statues depicting often the young lover of Baron. Not only that, but from the villa you can enjoy fabulous views of Marina Grande and the Gulf of Naples.

  • Wishing to visit this Villa it is advisable to carry a map to choose the right direction from the Centre of Capri. From the central square, you must go to the side of the restaurant Al Grottino. Further will need not to miss the left turn, which is the appropriate pointer. Then the road virtually nowhere diverges, and at the only intersection, you will encounter will be two pointers: one-side Villa Lysis and the other to the Villa Jovis. Once the territory of Villa Lysis, you will need to buy for € 2 ticket that will visit both the building of villas, and make a very nice photo with views over the Marina Grande Sorrento

  • The terrace overlooks the Marina grande. The white villa with the Pronaos supported by white columns with Golden tiles, reflects the light of sunset in a thousand rays. The elegant interior, almost magical. We attended a lovely concert with music by Debussy and others performed by a pianist and a talented singer. Thank you

  • I'm surprised more people don't visit here. Entry is only €2 which is probably worth it for the very clean bathroom alone, which being in a villa is a bit luxurious. The villa itself is gorgeous and there are art pieces on display throughout. Views from the villa are fantastic with a balcony overlooking the ocean but the harbour of Capri is also visible. The gardens are also nice albeit I don't believe they are fully restored yet.
  • It's probably unknown to many people that decide not to visit it, but it is a very worth visit. The house is nice, but the garden and the views are impressive. Among the top tourist attractions of the island.
  • Very beautiful. Entrance € 2. Worth it. Amazing views. Free brochures in different languages.
  • Fantastic views from up there.
  • Amazing view!
