Via Krupp, Capri
(4.1/5 based on 700+ reviews on the web)
A historic footpath along Capri's coast, Via Krupp is an architectural feat with a nefarious purpose. Officially, German industrialist Friedrich Alfred Krupp said it was built to provide a direct connection between his luxury hotel and his marine biology research vehicle on the water. Later, people discovered that the path actually led to the Grotta di Fra Felice, where the Krupp held wild parties. Krupp was asked to leave Italy in 1902. While the path is now a tourist attraction, it is often closed because of rocks falling from the cliffs. Check the conditions before coming. • Via krupp is one of the wonders of Capri, connects the area of the gardens of Augustus with Saracen tower at marina piccola. It is a pleasure to stroll with the peace that prevails there. Not to be missed

  • Via Krupp is a snake that meanders in a very scenic sea views. It is nice to see it from above, from the gardens of Augustus, and then follow it all the way to the cliff. In winter, deserted and without the crowds, on a nice day, is very romantic.

  • You must be in the best of condition to walk this trail. It is a breathtaking view and hard to believe that it was ever built.

  • Unfortunately closed. You get a great shot from the augustus garden. I really do hope it reopens again
  • I felt really disappointed when I found out that it is closed. Even though I enjoyed stunning views from Augustus gardens.
  • Don't expect to walk via Krupp. It has been closed for a while and nobody could tell us when it will be open again. It looks interesting from above, hence two stars instead of none.
  • A truly stunning view, I visited in mid-summer so there were many tourists, but it was still a very tranquil and calming experience walking along the winding road down the mountain. For those with young children, the elderly or those sensitive to heat I would recommend walking down and then getting a cab back from Marina Piccola, the walk back can be demanding for some people especially in the heat of summer.
  • This road is the best way to walk down to Marina Piccolo from Capri town. There are numerous switchbacks and you walk down from the public garden to the seashore. Take a cab or bus back. It would be helpful if there were signs marking the way to this path from Capri town. It is an extension of Via Matteotti and Via Certosa.
