Natural Arch, Capri

4.2
Towering 18 m (59 ft) above the ground stands Natural Arch. As the name suggests, a collapsed limestone grotto along the coastline of Capri has formed this shape, which provides a natural window into the deep turquoise lagoon below. The arch, spanning 12 m (39 ft) wide, is believed to have been from the Paleolithic age. You can take a short hike from the nearby town that winds through narrow streets and past villas and colorful gardens to the arch. Wear proper walking shoes, and be prepared to climb many steps. With our online itinerary creator, Capri attractions like Natural Arch can be center stage of your vacation plans, and you can find out about other attractions like it, unlike it, near it, and miles away.

  • Very nice! The road itself! The majority of the images that made túraútról before the Natural Arch. There is also a cave.

  • Take the time to do the LONG hike around Capri. It is well worth the thousands of steps. My husband & I have done this hike twice now and the Arch is breathtaking!  more »
  • Nice walk and good point of departure if it decides to start the Pizzolungo to see the villa Malaparte where "The contempt" with Brigitte Bardot was shot and that is accessible only by sea and private

  • Worth the walk but go prepared with drinking water. There is a short and long path, don't go the long way if you are not fit hundreds of stairs await you. The short, flat path is easy and for anybody but again, take water!
  • Stunning natural monument in good condition and clean surroundings. Easily accessible from Capri town.
  • 25-30 min walking from la capri square. From there you can see the penisola sorrentina (Sorrento and Amalfi cost) and once you are there you are just on top of matermania grotto. It's really worth to go there and to see from land side and from sea side with a boat. Suggested to go in the morning/afternoon where it's full sunny. Once there you are surrounded by nature sounds and nothing else, with a spectacular view. Bear in mind to keep clean the place and to minimise to leave plastic bottles etc.
  • Spectacular view. Definitely worth 25 min walk.
  • Fantastic scenery! It's a must see in Capri!

Where to stay in Capri

A popular island retreat, Capri offers some of the world's finest seaside lodging options. Most luxury and boutique hotels are located along the water, offering top-notch amenities and access to the best beaches. This tiny island has a big tourist following, which means that in high season even the most economic hotels might cost as much as four- or five-star establishments on the mainland. To avoid the high costs of big chains, consider booking your stay at a traditional B&B farther away from the island's main tourist areas.
