  • The Certosa is a great place to visit, not only for the beauty of the place and the seascape one can admire, but also for the awesome collection of paintings on Capri by Diefenbach, from the teosophic...  more »
  • Price of admission: 4 euros per adult. Either the place is severely under funded, or school is mismanaged, or mocked outright you. The place could yet become a model illustrating an important part of the history of Capri. One could imagine an animated site where guides would help tourists to imagine the monastic life of the past. Instead, your price of admission offers buildings in ruins with no historical information. No comment on the life of the monks, no information on their connection to the community, or architecture. The "Museum" offers little eyes. Into is wandering off the site (there is no indication), we have inadvertently crossed the entrance. Wishing to go back to finish our visit (we had not visited the Church), the doorman asks us our tickets so what do mine to return to the building. I hand him then my ticket purchased less than an hour before (the date and time are printed on the ticket). The doorman says while the ticket is "invalid" and us calls for entry fees. What we of course refused. We left frustrated and greatly disappointed. Too bad...

  • An Abbey suitable for quiet visits. Medieval geometry lines and silence, to walk in good company.
