Castello Piccolomini Reviews
L’Italia con i suoi mille piccoli borghi riserva sempre un mucchio di sorprese! I don't mean the Piccolomini Castle of Capistrano (already nice to visit), but of microscopic Museum which is housed in a small room next to the entrance to the Castle. It is a small military museum dedicated to the two great wars, managed by the Associazione Nazionale Alpini. A real treat for the nostalgic and military enthusiasts. Here there are uniforms and helmets, basti and saddles mules, field kitchens, palanquins for the wounded, "Sandals" to walk silently mules, snow shoes to prevent them from sinking. But there are also very rare objects like a stretcher corpsman dating back to World War I, an old saddle that belonged to the police complete with combat equipment, and a crate full of tools used by blacksmith battalion Monte Berico. Entrance to the Museum is free and the President of Anas Toma mi Capestrano section George kindly welcomed and shown many valuable historic relics collected here. Definitely worth a visit!
Siamo capitati a Capestrano, per caso, di giorno e per lavoro. Ci siamo trovati avanti ad un castello che è stupendo, ma che ha il difetto di essere trattato con lassismo. Potrei dire che è stupendo m... more »We popped in Capestrano, by chance, during the day and to work. We had next to a castle that is gorgeous, but it has the disadvantage of being treated with laxity. I could say it's gorgeous but, since I am picky, I mean it sucks. Let me explain better. The castle is a gem that should be kept as it was originally: what are they doing in the municipal offices? Why the Office for tourists is not there but elsewhere? Why not furnish it with equipment of the time (perhaps redone). Why don't you find the entrance a brochure? Because the stairs (redone) are in travertine is smooth while everything else (at the time) and rough from Mason? Because you don't put flags on beautiful towers? In short, it's a wonder but badly used. In any case is worth seeing, prior study (at home) in history and characteristics. Not to be overlooked, then other beauties of the place: the River, the gastronomy, the monuments, the Abbey etc.. Tell us that in the castle there is an Alpine Cicero bravissimo, but lunch time there we could talk. We asked about Castle at the restaurant ... well, never mind.
Ho visitato molti castelli in giro per l'Europa ma devo dire che questo è davvero uno dei più suggestivi che ho visto. Atrio con pozzo da togliere il fiato con scalinate e finestra che diventa un quad... more »I have visited many castles around Europe but I must say this is really one of the most beautiful I've seen. Atrium with breath-taking pit with stairways and window that becomes a natural framework with background mountains, gateway to the majestic Fort ... What about this castle could be used to shoot film medieval and fantasy films. As soon as you walk through the entrance is magically transported into another dimension. A DREAM
Stunning view. A must see if you are in the area.
An enchanted castle overlooking mountains and countries from all sides. Warrior of Capestrano sovereign castle entrance.
Splendid. Perfectly preserved despite the damage from the earthquake of 2009, adds to the architectural perfection landscapes.
Village in a beautiful and architecturally fascinating. Many homes and monuments still being restored. Castle very articulate, beautiful and stunning location.
A House of real ones! The view over the Valley is spectacular. You do not pay ticket to enter.
