  • Sits atop a hill, the former seat of a castle that belonged to the della Gherardesca; houses two museums; is surrounded by a large park. The Zoological Civic Museum on the ground floor and the archaeological museum on the main floor. The first, established in 1997, in five rooms exposes stuffed animals (invertebrates, mammals, birds, reptiles and fish) from all over the world. The collection also includes a collection of birds, butterflies, a clouded leopard and a marbled cat. The second is a nature trail with ceramics, coins and stone materials; Kit Etruscan tomb relief of Monte Pontedera.Il and Neolithic materials found in the area of Vessel Park is full of 160 species from various sources and, on a surface not huge, guards ben 12 monumental trees. Interesting and commendable initiative, as we are not in a wealthy metropolis. Why do 4 points

  • The Zoological Museum is rich in animal species, especially birds; could be considered a small La Specola in Florence! Also of interest is the archaeological museum on the second floor of the villa, where you can see exhibits dating from the Palaeolithic to the middle ages found in the area. I still recommend a greater enhancement and refurbishment of rooms and explanatory panels, because in my opinion these two museums have great potential, as the villa that hosts them! I would have liked to stay longer in the museums, but now that it's winter, those rooms are really cold, I was dying of cold! Find the funds to enhance the stunning facility! I still recommend to you a visit, because it only cost € 3.

  • The place is very impressive, not big but nice little park behind it, accessed by a Windows that opens in front of the main entrance of the Museum. Unfortunately the halls and shrines that welcome pets of small size. Some labels are detached and not fully qualified and lounges where stuffed animals are outside the shrines for the size and the number is a little difficult to learn, but inspiring approach to knowledge that must necessarily be thorough. Interesting but to renovate.
