  • We visited the town of Canosa di Puglia on a Saturday morning and found the town busy with locals but not crowded. In the square outside the main church and before you reach the Villa Comunale gardens are a number of noticeboards. While we were reading the boards and getting our bearings, one of the locals introduced himself and suggested we visit the Thomas museum. Initially I thought it was a ploy to have him guide us and expect a fee. However, that was not the case and it was a genuine effort to direct us to the museum which has free entry and friendly welcoming staff. While the museum is small, occupying only one floor it does have interesting and well preserved exhibits and is somewhere worth spending 20-30 minutes. There is also the added benefit of a free and clean toilet.

  • A Palace Museum "niche" which contains, among its ancient artefacts, refined burial pottery from the 4th century BC some golden, others with red figures and polychrome variety from original and extraordinary, pink and turquoise, local manufacturing, "Canosa" and "a". The uniqueness of this "Museum-Depot", undervalued in bulk and piled with the exhibits, is given by the direct relationship-Museum "territory" as if to say, archaeological objects at zero kilometers. For this I suggest, before going to the Museum, to visit the four neighbors tombs (Tomb Chambers with some painting) Lagrasta, Scocchera, Davis and Cerberus over the famous Tomb Varrese which were recovered about 400 items of funerary furniture exposed to the Museum. Free admission, insufficient caption.

  • The Museum houses two fantastic kits big Canosa of antiquity, the rest of the exhibits are scattered in all the museums of the world thanks to the carelessness and the little feelings of a people and especially of institutions. To see how much was great Canosa consult book: PRINCES, emperors, bishops, two thousand years of history at Canosa. Good vision. Hello
