  • I'm a regular visitor of the Hermitage of Camaldoli (I even took a house in the area to go often) ... It's a wonderful place, surrounded by unspoilt nature of a nothing short of fabulous! If the atmosphere really mysticism and it comes out more spiritually and physically. Join a walk through the many trails, quiet and respectful to the Hermitage views is one thing that must be done at least once in your life! I recommend everyone to visit these unique and wonderful places.

  • It's comfortable here. There is never a lot of people. There is peace and silence. And cool in the summer. Beautiful forest of Camaldoli. Very impressive the Hermitage. Is a Hermitage and not an outlet mall or a shopping mall ... dress code and behavior appropriate to the environment.

  • In the midst of a spectacular old forest stands the Hermitage of Camaldoli, founded about 1000 years ago by San Romualdo. The Hermitage still houses about a dozen monks who live isolated from the rest of the world, gathered in silence and prayer. To disturb this silence there are only some tourists who, thankfully, can only peek from a railing the lodges of the monks and visiting the tiny wooden nest that was the cell of Saint Romuald. Little stuff, but for me it is fascinating to think of the existence which lead these monks, light years away from the hectic life of our cities and the streets full of traffic. An opportunity for tourists to meditate over their lives.

  • We visited the Hermitage without guidance because during the week there are no guided tours; there at the souvenir shop day told us it is possible only on weekends. Peaceful place well groomed and part is under restoration. You can go by car or on foot along a path (about 3 km) which is intersica into several parts with the asphalt road.

  • We visited the Hermitage in his part allowed that is not much, but it's significant. I appreciated that the monastic life is totally changed and that the monks share functions with people outside. Unfortunately I couldn't see the dining room nor the library, for which you need a reservation. Although I am well aware that, after the Napoleonic suppression, volumes and documents, have been moved, for the most part here in Florence and Arezzo I would have really liked it immensely enjoy the place that had them contained at the beginning. In short the lives of cloistered monks always arouses great charm if combined with the beauty of the place. Unfortunately the visit lasts just half an hour, but may take a lot more if it were allowed to go deeper into points: especially the Church I know collect even the venerable relics that are not shown or the tomb of De Marcillat.
