  • This is a wonderful privilege to experience as one of the oldest churches in central Sicily dating back to the time of Count Roger who eventually conquered the whole of Sicily as the invading Normans ...  more »
  • Lovely little church at the gates of Caltanissetta. Built by Roger to convert nisseni, retains its charm in both the simple and elegant outside both inside with simple, clean the wooden crucifix and the frescoes of the apse.

  • After seeing from the outside many times, I finally got to visit it. Inside is a little gem of Norman architecture, simple but very impressive.

  • The Abbey of Santo Spirito is located in a city on the outskirts of Caltanissetta poorly signposted, but worth looking into, especially if you visit the nearby archaeological museum. Place of worship already in Byzantine times, the Church was consecrated in 1153, and preserves the imprint his Commissioner conferred on it by the Norman Ruggiero. The site retains a special charm because it is a haven of peace compared to the congestion of the city and the Interior, well cared for and preserved, is particularly impressive.
