Church of small dimensions, but with a strong religiosity to locals, because evokes the martyr Efísio situated in the old quarter of narrow streets, has a staircase to access your interior. Inside everything is restored and impecalvemente careful what translates the devotion of places for this small liturgical space

In our ride with the underground Guide to Cagliari, there was also the prison of Saint Efisio, become a raid shelter during the war plane. The Chisa is smallish but you see how the people they care. The feast of May 1 was passed recently but were still all the decorations and Bunting. Surely it is to visit.

Visited for the first time in early March 2017, on the occasion of the feast, in which I had been invited by my dear friend, we are back with pleasure a few days ago, this time alone. It is a very beautiful church, albeit small in Baroque style, dedicated to Sant'Efisio, patron saint of Cagliari, and situated along the via dedicated to itself, just steps from the Church of Saint Restituta. The Church has a nave with three chapels on each side. The presbytery is raised by a few steps above the floor of the House and is closed by a marble balustrade; on the back wall rises the imposing high altar, in polychrome marbles, where, in a niche within a wooden reliquary, are preserved the relics of Saint Efisio. In the second chapel on the right there is the Saint's statue dating back to the 17th century, which is carried in procession up to Nora, during the Festival, which, as mentioned earlier, occurs at the beginning of May. Gorgeous. I will be back again for sure. TO VISIT ABSOLUTELY!

  • It is a place of devotion for Cagliari. In fact the Church from the artistic and architectural point of view is not particularly merits. It is very simple and with a single nave with side chapels has a large marble altar. The square in front of where the typical houses of the villanova quarter. While it is very significant for the religious value and devotion to the Saint Efisio, patron of the city. Suggestive especially during the Festival of May Day 1 begins the pilgrimage to Nora, the site of the martyrdom of the Saint. And don't miss the return of the Saint in the late evening of May 4 in a mystical atmosphere.

The wooden binnacle (1888) containing the relics of the Saint is the work of master carver Efisio Atzeni. The side walls are home to two paintings in 1953 of the painter Giovanni Battista Scano depicting the martyrdom and glory of Sant'Efisio. The plume of the dome above the altar are four circular paintings of the second half of the 20th. Century attributed to the master Baciccia Scano representing the four saints: St. Eusebius, Saint fulgentius, Saturn and Sant'Efisio

  • The inner soul of Stampace and the whole city of Cagliari is here.

  • This little gem tucked in stampace stands on what history has shown how the military prison first then Diocletian efisio, who converted and martyred in beach of nora, where stands the little church dedicated to him, on 15 January 303 a.d. The small church is just the starting point of the procession every 1 in may from almost 400 years see citizenship Cagliari dissolve the vow made to the Saint. From here towards nora and then return the 4 night. The Church, rich in votive preserves three statues of the Saint. One is ever present in the side chapel, and is the one that comes out on May 1. Another is present in the sacristy, the oldest, called sant efisiu sballiau (wrong) because he has in his right hand the Palm of martyrdom and symbol in the sin on the cross symbol. Finally ve n is a third of lonis, who is brought to the Cathedral in other occurrences. Note the frescoes and the reliquary of the Saint in the middle of the hagiographic altar. Beneath the Church, with entrance on via sant ' efisio, is brought to the jail, where you can note the column that was kept tied the Holy because being tortured. It was probably a place of early Christian worship but also are charged.
