Chiesa di San Michele, Cagliari
(4.7/5 based on 100 reviews on the web)
Admire the masterful maiolica floor of Chiesa di San Michele, a Jesuit church with marble statues and elaborate paintings. The 18th-century floor represents an elaborate Garden of Eden in vibrant colors. Take a walk around the building and feel the peaceful atmosphere while enjoying the view of numerous decorations, marble statues of saints, and carved wood. Left of the altar look for the sacristy that resembles a museum, with icons dating back to the 17th and 18th century. • A real triumph of the Baroque. Domenico Pozzo in a exhilarating brings different styles that make up this order. In its architecture of the different chapels are recognizable material elements as the typical marbles of the shipyards of Genoa with wooden elements of Neapolitan invoice. Creating a homogeneity delicious without reaching the heaviness of esaperante Rococo which often.

  • The Church of san michele is a jewel of the Baroque, rococo neighborhood of stampace. Easily accessible both by via azuni which via ospedale, the Church contains within it the world Jesuit with its symbolism and its holy martyrs. Main entrance from the via azuni, presents the statue of the Saint who bears the sword and the scales, the latter seems genuine. Currently the left part of the establishment, once the novitiate of the Jesuits, is the seat of the military hospital of Sardinia. Entrance to the porch we find l Ambo said of Charles v, an earlier work to the Church itself, which was located in a church destroyed, once located in corso vittorio emanuele. Inside the Church is richly decorated. There are eight chapels that open circularly to the main building, each dedicated to a Jesuit sanctified. Everywhere are also the symbols of the principal and of the Bishop of the time. The sacristy and the sacristy entrance preserve treasures: statues by lonis, paintings depicting joyful and sorrowful mysteries, paintings by colombino.
