  • It's a very well preserved Roman amphitheatre. It consists of a House of stone steps, from an arena for Gladiators, from where they prepared the actors and where the cages for wild animals. Too bad this magnificent site, previously used for opera performances and performing, has been closed to the public for restoration work that will last for years. Can be seen only from the outside, taking a walk on the climb of viale fra Ignazio to arrive at viale Buoncammino, whence observes a panorama of port and airport. Are important neighbours: Archaeological Museum, torre di San Pancrazio, the Castello district. The whole thing is worth a visit for two hours.

  • The amphitheatre is kept very badly. Weeds, debris and garbage the scar! Unfortunately we are used to see how little we value our past!

  • Until a short time ago the amphitheatre hosted shows and outdoor concerts. Place of martyrdom of early Christians was flooded for the naumachie, naval battles. Located in front of the Church Sanctuary of the Capuchins under the walk of Buoncammino Prison maximum security facility near the same name no longer in use.

  • Actually closed for necessary maintenance work and compliance updates. It will be re-opened in September 2017.
  • Besides imagine you can primarily see a construction area, even in September 2016. Not with a visit or detour.
  • We have a very informative guided tour. It is sad that this old Roman amphitheater has suffered a lot of damage and abuse. The old glory can only be imaged.
  • One eternal perhaps undervalued first concerts were made inside. Thus continuing the function of amphitheatre seen as Center for shows and much more. Currently there are renovations going on. Expect updates to find out the next time. (Mayor, moved)

  • Nice and scenic, shame they have desecrated with bleachers for concerts, I hope they clear themselves and open to visits, ugliest are always other cities well amphitheaters crammed with tourists
