  • The medieval castle of Caccuri, dominates the entire historical centre as the "icing on the cake" of a beautiful medieval village, well kept and friendly people. Inside the castle there are two quaint bed and breakfast. From the Hall, open to the public, you will reach the Tower from which you can admire the whole Valley and the Ionian Sea. Just a few hours to walk around the historic centre and finish in the beautiful castle.

  • We stayed Cacurri as my wife and brother in law were looking for information on their great grandmother. The castle was simply marvelous. The owner and staff were gracious. The bedrooms and bathrooms were gigantic, the bed very comfortable, and the hot water hot. The castle and rooms were beautifully decorated. My only advice is not to use car navigation and use the directions on the website.
  • We are very spoiled (unfortunately) and this magic experience was beyond any expectation. Donatella is a very elegant and beautiful lady, cultivated and generous. Her castle is a small jewel in a territory that is humble, sometimes harsh, beautiful and precious. We are dreaming to come back and we suggest this place to any beauty addicted traveller ❤
  • By Hwy 107, which connects the Tyrrhenian Sea with the Ionian Sea by Paola in Crotone, across la Sila and Valle del Neto, San Giovanni in Fiore begins the descent towards the sea. About 650 meters above sea level rises Caccuri, an ancient medieval village grew up around the magnificent Castle built on a cliff above "notes" as a lookout the marquisate, from the mountains to the sea. The old town is one of the most intact and less compromise between those in the district. The urban fabric, in fact, maintains the characteristics of the old centre consists of a network of roads and alleys that lead everyone to the Castle. The origins of the settlement remains uncertain: some sources passed the existence of populations since the Neolithic age, others refer to the Roman era, finally the Byzantine period which dates back to the first building of the castle like defensive garrison guarding the Valley of Neto. Over the centuries the "castrum" underwent important transformations, and from the 15th century onwards was the scene of a series of steps, hosting the most prestigious family members feudal and powerful of the time. ... In 1418, the castle is included among the legacies of Count Carlo Ruffo of Montalto to daughter Polyxena going to marry the young Francesco Sforza, son just seventeen di Muzio. It is precisely because of this marriage that the caccurese Cicco Simonetta follows Francis in Milan, until becoming Secretary of these skilful and illuminated and administrator of the Grand Duchy, as well as powerful and end Milan's policy 400 Weaver. In the sixteenth century began a period of rapid transfers to Caccuri under subsequent families Spinelli, Sersale and Cimino, until 1651 when the fief passed to the Cavalcanti who retained until the subversion of feudalism
