#1 of 212 in Outdoors in Veneto
Spend a day learning about wild animals from around the world at Parco Natura Viva, a wildlife park established in 1969 and located in the picturesque hills of Verona province. The sprawling park covers an area of about 40 hectares (99 acres), and shelters nearly 1,500 indigenous and exotic animals, which represent over 250 species of wild creatures. Each year the park attracts nearly half a million visitors of all ages. You can explore two main areas inside this park, both of which are designed to keep the visitors and the animals as safe as possible. The safari area allows visitors to stay inside their vehicles, while the fauna zone is for pedestrians only. The park also includes a dinosaur display area, the first site in the country with life-size models of prehistoric reptiles. Arriving in the afternoon we started with safari, a bit short but cute. The visit to the Park is beautiful, there are plenty of animals to see and a nice hike to do. Finally, the only place open in the evening to dine (the "Gombe") the staff was beyond friendly and helpful in meeting our need for gluten-free foods.

Total disappointment. The Park is divided into two parts and the main disappointment comes from the part that they call safari zoo. You can not call zoo safari a path under which the more emotions get from goat pens that you cross the street and from animals too common. The Lions are far away, I mean a total disappointment. So much smog, for a row of cars moving at walking pace. And then really inconceivable that after you have paid 20 euros, I let them pay for parking. The classic zoo you save, though being Tan, I must acknowledge that the Pistoia zoo is quite another. Tip: to avoid

  • This is real Safari! Giraffe crossed the road real close to our car, it was amazing! And they have also classic zoo at the end of Safari.
  • Very nice place for kids, but not only. A lot to see, you can spend there a full day.
  • Wide rooms for very well treated animals. Plenty of species. Well marked trails. Beautiful scenarios.
  • Amazing park. For families and children. It takes one day to visit it all.
  • Great Park, all the enclosures are very well set up and give plenty of space. a great place for a very full day with the family.
