  • The House is located in Processione Street in the village of Roncole Verdi. The writer and journalist Giovannino Guareschi lived in this village since 1952. It's in the Bassa Parmense inspired to the famous novel, who later became a movie, "Don Camillo" series the world small: humorous tale anti-Communist priest (Don Camillo) which has as an opponent-friend on the country's Communist Mayor (Pam). In 1964 the Guareschi opened a restaurant for children that ran for three decades until 1995, when they decided to close the restaurant to turn the building into the current House Guareschi, entrusting the Administration to "Club of ventitrè (23)". You can visit for free: the retrospective exhibition "Giovannino our Santa" (former restaurant dining room), the Centro studi (former dining room), the Guareschi archive (former kitchen) et la Médiathèque (former laundry).

  • The site itself doesn't offer much, if not a passionate introduction of managers and an exhibition of prints and photographs, along with the good, illustrating the history of the great writer. But Gautam and his lecture are beyond the place and projecting this space and the surrounding countryside on a broader reflection on life, values of yesterday and today, through the figures of don Camillo and Peppone. A nostalgic look but above all a bitter look on society and politics today, that probably isn't any worse or less noble than then (just get a modicum of historical memory), but it doesn't have that common sense, those authentic manners and genuine, nor the desire to look around and to help in time of need. Il mondo di Guareschi is a simple world, where everyone knows each other and where different opinions and battles on, allow the same men and women know when it's time to stop and paddling all on the same side, putting aside rivalries and sterile controversy.

  • I visited again, after several years, this real Guareschi's temple; then over to Albert, there was still the sister Carlotta; now, unfortunately, remained the only Alberto to keep alive the cult of Papa John with great passion and commitment. The House, ax family restaurant, is a veritable infinity container of memorabilia, illustrations and books of any type or origin (Guareschi is and continues to be translated around the world); a full immersion in the small world that can not miss the checkbook every fan, with the shiny comment by Alberto to explain circumstances and also unpublished aspects of the famous parent. Not to be missed
