  • Located inside the convent of Santa Giulia, and represents an important testimony of the religious architecture of the early middle ages. The Church and monastery were both founded by Desire in the 8th century, future King of the Lombards, on the ruins of an ancient Roman domus. It's totally free of façade and apse and preserves the original structure with three naves. Inside you can admire frescoes by Paolo da Caylina il giovane and Floriano Ferramola, some frescoes dating from the Carolingian and various artifacts, marble and terracotta, high quality Executive, referring to ancient liturgical furnishings among which is the famous plaque with Peacock. Putties, dating from the ninth century, are still visible in the arches and lintels. The oldest part of the crypt corresponds to the horseshoe-shaped apse, which dates back to the 8th century, while the rest is due to the expansions of the 12th century, including 42 columns, some of which still retain the capitals in style designed by Antelami. The decoration of the vault went mostly lost, was partially preserved marble and stucco liturgical kit of the 12th century. The fragments of frescos visible in this crypt are made out of two layers and belong to the 8th and 9th century. to visit
