Arte Sella, Borgo Valsugana

Arte Sella: the contemporay mountain.

Arte Sella is an international outdoor exhibition of contemporary art set up in 1986 in the fields and woods of the Sella Valley (Val di Sella, municipality of Borgo Valsugana, province of Trento).

Arte Sella is both a qualified exhibition of artistic works and, most importantly, an ongoing creative process in which art works can be actually followed as they grow and evolve. The artists are called upon to express a respectful relationship with nature and treat it as a source of inspiration.

The works are usually three-dimensional and created using stones, leaves, branches and tree trunks. Man-made objects, materials and colours are rarely used. All works are placed outdoor and can be admired while enjoying the different types of woods, stones and monumental trees in the surroundings, the artworks are left to decay thus becoming again part of nature's life cycle.

  • A visit to «ArteSella» is mandatory for those visiting the nearby Valsugana. A small world that combines art and nature, in a mixture of clean air and feast for the eyes. Walk in a beautiful green, discovering step by step spectacular artworks, which join sagaciously natural scenario. Absolutely recommended.

  • We visited this open air museum with great enthusiasm and were repaid in full. We parked near the Info point (in the building of the restaurant to the wood). The girl was very kind and explained well the paths (both free and paid). Grab with pliers walking times declared, they can stretch much, because you have a lot of time to observe the works!!! The location is very beautiful, the works are "embedded" in the Woods and you discover as you advance. It's a shame too because it would take away the pleasure of "telling" surprise. Excellent location surcharge, more formal and with most pleasant and "conceptual" but well organized and held. It was a wonderful experience, witness of the fact that when a man wants to do things "beautiful" he does all right. Highly recommended for everyone, including families with children, the walk is long, but totally doable. NB: don't publish photos, so as not to spoil the surprise

  • Art as you've never seen it before! Amazing works of art done by well known artists that are designed to eventually biodegrade. So creative, even the kids will love it!
  • Really beautiful and interesting artworks. Well worth a visit
  • Open art exhibition, beautiful mix between art and woods.
  • The idea to do art out of natural materials is great. The way of displaying it and integrating in the environment is absolute awesome. It works of art are integrated in wood landscape as it would be a part of the natural habitat. Do not skip a free exhibitionist and spend 2-2,5 hours walking through relaxing trail and looking around for art object "hidden" in your surroundings. Some of them are really obvious to see, others are so naturally placed, that you need good eye to realize an art object and not a natural derivation. The second part of the exhibition is more museum like, where more objects are displayed on the less territory. Never the less it is also worth seeing and walking through and let the art impress you. As the statement I would say if your are into modern art and like walking in the nature - Arte Sella will for sure impress you. But even if not - it is worth visiting.
  • Very interesting contemporary art.
