It continues with a Roccelletta, unfinished Norman Church reminiscent of San Galgano in Tuscany. The Museum is very well equipped educationally, you have a very detailed description of Greek-Roman colony and the exhibits, including the heads of various characters, very beautiful. Well worth a visit and, for those interested in classical culture, is a wonderful surprise. We hope that the number of Italian visitors grow, considering that 90% of those encountered, about 80, were foreigners (German, Dutch, English). Congratulations also for cleaning and staff.show original

The area has been redeveloped and renovated with funds and made a really good job. We chose to go in the morning because we had read that the afternoon the museums were closed. The Park is located in a huge olive grove, maintained to perfection. When we went they were fruitful in high season, with huge olives, a spectacle of nature! Under those tops, we spent a wonderful day despite the heat, their shadow was great. Museums worth seeing them. We particularly loved the one on mill, with original brass machines and huge Millstones to stone. Inside the park there are remains from different eras, medieval and Roman civilization. The Park is divided into different areas to be visited with calm to appreciate everything it offers. It is also possible to connect with your smartphone and take a virtual tour of the ruins that you are in front of or inside museums points. The cost of entry is three euros, really modest. It was really a pleasant surprise, it deserves in our view to be more publicized, even from tourist facilities and province. This is a constant that we found for other discoveries made in the territory, of which we had never heard ...show original

The Archaeological Park of Scolacium is an example of this man, who, between initial faltering and uncertain times and with some luck, managed to avoid damaging important evidence of our past. Of course, thanks to the intuition and commitment of a few willing and courageous and thanks to various jobs, construction of aqueducts and/or reclamation of coastal railway line and the road statale...il place has been unearthed to be admired over time. The Park is located in Roccelleta di Borgia, Catanzaro, and you can reach following the road that from Lamezia and the SA-RC motorway connects the Tyrrhenian coast with that Ionic, or travelling on the SS106. You arrive at your destination, you can park conveniently at the entrance, and paying a few dollars, you can visit, walking between artifacts and ancient ruins for at least a few good hours. Emerge remains of Basilica di Santa Maria della Roccella, impressive and almost certainly built between the late 11th and early 12th century, a Roman city and here we go back many centuries, with its Forum, the capitolum and others, a theatre that looks tiny but could accommodate 5000 people, also necropolis and an amphitheatre, where it was possible to watch the fight between gladiators and beasts. Everything is well explained and placed over time by writing clear and detailed signs and panels, which meet, between olive trees and fig trees, clambering along the dirt roads that lead to the highest point of the hills of the Park. Behold, from here you can also view a breathtaking view over the sea and the Gulf you Squillace, from Catanzaro lido and more on the way South, after Soverato. The Park is looked after by careful Superintendence calabrese, also houses a beautiful Museum, where there are many finds (coins, vases, statues, weapons and other Paleolithic and bronze age periods too ...), some baronial houses of ancient and noble families of Borgia that are to be connected an impressive Museum-mill and typical local produce for the production of oil. The Park deserves to be seen, to be advertised more to be visited by many more people, tourists, passers-by, schoolchildren on a field trip, inhabitants in Calabria who don't know still existing ...show original
