  • The place, inside and outside, is splendid: two ficus maglioides spectacular that alone are worth the visit. Inside a ' temple ' of knowledge in bosserie built by the English botanist Bicknell at mid ' 800, when the British here were more numerous than the locals, and he made the world know the graffiti of the Valley of marvels to Castérino. Books, dressers with butterflies, watercolors and some archaeological find. The addition of the loft, a 60 years ago, has entirely altered the place actually made him hotter. Admission price fixed at 3 euros. Sin two things: the ' Cerberus ' who forbids you to photograph (you can take just one!); Imagine if the Bicknell had forbidden the inhabitants of photographing, splashing or Casterino casts of grafiti!!! Also while imagining the financial difficulties of the Institute at least bricks scattered around under the ficus could remove them!

  • I visited this extraordinary place thanks to a friend of mine who lives in Bordighera. I had no idea that, abandoning the Via Romana, began an unexpected path. Walking through it I noticed massive roots snaking along the trail. After a giant Ficus enveloped all available space, "eating" some walls. Seem to enter a forest! Towards the bottom of the lawn a huge Wisteria almost hides the façade of the museo Bicknell. It is a strange and unique museum contains collections of butterflies, booklets of notes, books, musical instruments, paintings, casts, I mean the legacy of a learned man, fond of various aspects of life in all directions: from Botany to the storio, from painting to music. Unfortunately the place needs a sponsor to keep it alive and renovate it. Other Nations "leccherebbero mustache" if they had an asset like that!
