  • Walking along Via dei Francescani, in the heart of the city, there is a switch next to a tall wall of medieval origin, behind which is the convent of the Franciscan fathers. Before entering the Church we went to the beautiful 14th-century cloister, covered late Gothic arched ceiling, supported by arcades 3 lobes, divided in four groups of five; originally entirely covered with frescoes of the Giotto school, now I am present only fragments why destroyed partly for the makeover of times, partly covered with lime. Between fragments, a rarity: the 14th century fresco, linear style Bolzano, portraying the suffering Christ, where the artist has placed well in evidence all instruments used for torture: nails, cross, Crown of thorns, the spear used to Pierce his side, the sponge soaked in vinegar. Externally the Church has a neo-Gothic style, the Interior is simple and straightforward: three naves without transept, with deep chancel concluded from a polygonal apse (lit by three tall Lancet Windows decorated with stained glass). Other precious gem: Sant'Eraldo Chapel, with frescoes of the fifteenth century depicting sixteen doctors Franciscans hired through a succession of arches polylobed on pillars.
