  • Close to Bolzano city, with convenient free parking. You climb on foot a short climb (3 minutes), and you will arrive at the entrance of the Castle. The entire ticket is €8, children free. The visit can be done in 45, 1 hour max. The rooms are few but rich in frescoes, really well kept and with singular subjects very profane. Great signs with explanations. There's also a curious modern room that thanks to the inclination of the floor and the fake background from an illusion large/small amazing amazing. My child is very amused. In the central courtyard can be visited on request a beautiful chapel, also frescoed. The castle is also equipped with a great restaurant/bar with comfortable outdoor seating or even indoor seats. X chi ama i castles and medieval frescoes, not to be missed!

  • For this visit took advantage of a "shuttle bus" that offers a convenient and free transport service from piazza Walter, at the center of Bolzano, up to the Castle car park. From the parking lot, a cobbled uphill path leads in 10 minutes to the castle which stands at the entrance of Sarntal. For this climb you should avoid the hottest hours of the day and wear appropriate footwear. At the front desk we were greeted by a very nice lady who also worked hard to get the bus back with the least possible waiting (5 minutes). The visit provides an opportunity to soak up the atmosphere of a noble residence of the 4th century with an extraordinary series of frescos, perhaps the largest and one of the best preserved of the Alps. There are not many environments and then visit duration depends on how much time you want to devote to the admiration of these murals. It's really worth to visit this castle, one of the most interesting in South Tyrol.

  • Castle well maintained, reached along a short walk uphill and leaving your car in the parking lot below. Good themed profane frescoes. Osteria in the inner courtyard. Very kind lady who gave us the tickets, which left us enter canche on the dog.

  • Beautiful old castle. Well worth the trip to see. The setting is gorgeous.
  • Very cool frescoes. In fact the oldest preserved collection around.
  • not worth the money and very small. rude lady at front desk starts talking to her collegua and ignore you in middle of buying a ticket.
  • The inside is publicly accessible and very beautiful. To get onto the walls for an awesome view on Bolzano you need to pay 8€ (Students 5.50€) for the museum. This is a good investment if you are into the displayed art, not so much for the view only
  • Awesome place bellisimo castel
