  • This Basilica in bolsena is particularly revered not only for worship in Santa Cristina Martyr whose tomb is here preserved, but also and above all for the remembrance of the famous miracle of the Eucharist is composed of 3 well defined nuclei: the Basilica, the New Chapel of the miracle, the cave of s. Cristina and the catacomb. The Basilica has a prospectus is a jewel of Renaissance architecture and on the left side stands the Bell Tower. The Interior has three naves with a Latin cross plan and roof trusses. Its construction is due to the devotion x the santa of Matilda of Canossa and in the left aisle is the chapel dedicated to the Saint where custudiscono his relics. The chapel of miracles has a shovel in below are closed and visible, three of the four stones stained with blood from the host in 1263, the prodigious issued forth is exposed beneath the altar. The cave, in dim light, guards the altar on which, according to tradition the miracle took place. This is the place of worship of the primitive Basilica which became space destroying the catacomb.
