  • The Church is small but contains some treasures not to be missed: the grave of Luigi Galvani, whose monument is in the square in front of the White House and chapel with the incorrupt body of Santa Caterina da Vigri, died in the mid-1400. It's a view perhaps not suitable for small children because they may be impressed and to those who suffer from travellers prefer-2 because there are quite a few steps, but the advice for everyone else.

  • Very interesting visit with Didasco to this church located in the Centre of Bologna and well known to the history of Saint Catherine of Bologna Dei Vigri foundress of the monastery of Corpus Christi, passed into history as Saint Catherine of Bologna and co-patron saint of the city. The Saint is still present with her incorrupt body preserved within the Church, inside a wooden Tabernacle, in a chapel surrounded by objects in reliquaries to walls: there are the Breviary with thumbnails by herself and the little purple who loved playing; the precious reliquary containing the blood mixed with humour exuding from the body; and then the teeth and bones and skulls decorated with garlands of flowers. The Chapel is visited by many devotees who linger in prayer, asking for pardons and offering votive offerings for graces received. It's a very special place that elicits strong emotions: the body of the Saint that for over five centuries is unaffected, he wears a cassock, seems to have his eyes open and in her lap has a Breviary that tap with one hand. The monastery was founded in 1456 and later the Church was built which was almost completely rebuilt and expanded in 1687. While the façade dates back to the 15th century (beautiful terracotta portal with candelabra shapes and panels) the Interior is Baroque with decorations of Fernandes and works of Carracci, Mace and Feng. The chapel of the Holy dates back to 1680 while the canonization took place in 1712. Like other churches bolognesi this underwent many vicissitudes: at the end of the 18th century, Napoleon arrives and Poor Clares is suppressed, desecrated Church and monastery. In 18161e the sisters return to take possession of their properties, but then are used as barracks by General Cialdini. In 1905 Alfonso Rubbiani receives the task to begin the restoration of the façade of the Church. After a bombing raid in October 1943, doing serious damage to the Church and the monastery of the Holy (as close to the barracks Cialdini, considered military target). The Church was partially destroyed; the body of the Saint was transferred in Convento dell'Osservanza, then reported in intact Chapel, in the last phase of the war, from where he took away, clarisse during alarms planes, to bring it back into an underground shelter. Are immediately initiated rescue of renovation, dome that despite having lost the roof was miraculously left standing. The portal was reduced to smithereens, which were meticulously and patiently collected and reassembled, with new artifacts to try to recreate the original forms. Really interesting and exciting visit, don't miss the chapel of the Holy but obviously is open to established days and times. It's a very special place, which we must approach it with a heart prepared.

  • Beautiful church that has preserved the intact body of Saint Catherine of Bologna (or dei Vigri), founder of this church and adjacent monastery. From the body of the Holy nuns extract a prodigious liquid that can be bought in the monastery.
