  • Church of Bologna little known, seems to have been built over the ruins of a Roman Arean, where Christians were martyred Vitale and Agricola. There are beautiful works of art, although it was heavily looted by Napoleon. To honor the crypt.

  • The church dedicated to Saint Vitale in Agricola stands where once stood the Roman amphitheatre, the remains of which can still be seen going down in the crypt. The building is located on the street (San Vitale) and the entry on the porch; so it is not visible from the road. The inside is a little dark, as in many churches of the same period. Upon entering, the eye immediately falls on the altarpiece and its massive gold frame, much bigger than the picture itself. In this church you can listen to a couple of the best harvest of city. The Sunday morning (10.30 a.m.) is officiated by 92-year-old don Giulio, the senior priest of the Diocese of Bologna, but still very Spry. The Sunday evening (19.00 hours) is officiated by the Jesuits, who, with the Napoleonic confiscations, no longer have their own church in town. This last service is particularly popular with students, because the Church is not far from the University District.

  • The 15th century church which houses a crypt of the 11th century, the oldest in Bologna, with masonry and recycled Roman carvings. It highlights the difference between the Church ornamental richness and the sobriety of the crypt.

  • A small gem off the typical tourist route in Bologna.
  • Very pretty unexpected inside Church as wealth of frescoes and paintings. Discreet and even the exterior façade.

  • Really impressive basilica, with a fantastic crypt. The latter is the oldest place of Bologna, with a two-story shortly. Really a destination not to be missed in this wonderful city.
