  • Porta Lame is one of the twelve gates in the Middle Ages they controlled access to the city. Today is located at the center of a busy roundabout. It was built in the 13th century. It was near the river port of the city and along the road that goes out the door reached the lower plain, covered with numerous swamps (hence blades, which in Latin means Marsh). Originally there was a keep covered and in 1334 was equipped with two drawbridges, one tank and one for pedestrians. Between 1674 and 1677 was completely rebuilt and the present building was erected in Baroque style. She is remembered for the battle of Porta Lame, a significant episode of the Italian resistance. On 7 November 1944 the partisans clashed with the fascists and the German army into the most important clash within an urban centre, in Italy, during World War II. Of great symbolic significance and political for the city, albeit very little relevance on the fortunes of the conflict. From memory there are two bronze statues of sculptor Luciano Minguzzi devoted to Partisan and Partisan: forged with molten bronze by the monument of "Mussolini on horseback" which stood at Dall'Ara Stadium A plaque recalls the names of the fallen on the grid. It was restored between 2007 and 2009. Inside the keep of Porta Lame there is today the Speleological Museum Luigi Fantini and Speleological group headquarters in Bologna.

  • These are some of the dozens of surviving city gates in a ring of fortifications (alas not surviving) of Bologna, very unusual-instead of a typical Gothic Tower appears in front of you chopped a bonbonniere in Baroque or Rococo even. Unlike other standing at the center of the busy raunèbautov road, it is quite possible to freely approach and consider in detail.

  • Porta Lame is one of the largest and best preserved especially Bologna. Is located at the center of a busy roundabout. At the foot of the door there are statues of two partisans who represent a historic battle of the resistance. Worth a quick visit.
