  • The Botanical Garden is actually a magnificent park sprawling and among the oldest in the world. There are stately trees and rare plants and, especially important, each plant has its own identification tag. We met a college student who works at the Park and they very kindly allowed us to visit the greenhouses of tropical plants and fat ... spectacular! There is also the section of carnivorous plants and medicinal herbs. Those who visit Bologna can not refrain from making a side trip to the Botanical Garden. P.s.: the visit is free.

  • I only discovered this year this beautiful garden close to the Centre of Bologna University and open to the public. Contains lovely plants and rare and ancient trees, interesting in all seasons. Also it is an oasis of peace where you can relax and enjoy nature.

  • A magical place of Bologna, little known to most people. An oasis of peace and nature a stone's throw from avenues! At the entrance are allowed plants to take home in Exchange for a donation: very good for study/lunch breaks, given its proximity to many university faculties.

  • Entering through the gate on via Irnerio, you have to keep going through the small inner garden coming, next to the classrooms of the University, at the entrance of the garden. The orto botanico di Bologna is a magical place, in every season. A green area to be discovered in the city centre! Various types of plants from all over the world, a unique spectacle! I recommend it especially in spring, when the scents of flowers are at most (but beware of allergies!) and autumn in the period of the thousand colors of the leaves, but is gorgeous even in winter, with the snow. Admission is free, and if it didn't rain too, it's easy to access for people in wheelchairs or with those babies. The only drawback is that sometimes the gardeners are doing works or pruning trees, so some parts will be inaccessible, but proceeding down, up to the city walls, we don't notice anything, affected by the feeling of being in nature.

  • Great Botanical Garden, very well kept, essential part teaching ... but really too many mosquitos!

  • Sorry, but I wonder: how is it possible that the Botanical Garden in a city like Bologna is closed on Sundays?
