  • Bologna had a great importance in the middle ages, due to its famous University and not just and it is on of the city taking a museum to this historical epoch, museum type less common in Italy than it might be. On the site of the palazzo Ghisilardi Fava-is a rich collection of artifacts illustrating various aspects of medieval Bologna. Are particularly interesting tombs that were dedicated to academics and portray them in the Chair surrounded by students (the latter, portraits with no idealisation and indeed discreetly realistic poses), but you can also admire other sculptures and jewellery, weapons and armor, illuminated manuscripts, a large model depicting the medieval Bologna, and more. Negative notes, the attitude of the staff: the Lady at the entrance appeared to me very rude and almost annoyed by having to welcome visitors; and more than once the keepers asked me the ticket in English (!): I'm sorry but this ridiculous sycophancy towards the English-speaking world is definitely not a good way to value and appreciate our culture. Also, I find it completely inappropriate to mass-not separately, but in close contact with the permanent collection--a smattering of ugliness of the usual recommended that you define contemporary artists: a beautiful altarpiece by Jacopo della Quercia is almost invisible due to one of these monstrosities.

  • One of the most interesting museums that I've entered (maybe the fact that I've done the tour has made a difference). Very Rico collection, with suits of armor, objects from the Americas, Africa and the East.
