  • Architecturally, historical and artistic, there's definitely better. Then, if one wants to just go there to pray, then one church is as good as another

  • Leaving the Foundation Creberg we headed into the adjacent church which once had a three-nave Gothic architecture with the vault of the nave in wood supported by three pointed arches. Of all this there is nothing left. At the bottom on the right, a chapel, there are frescoes attributed to 15th-century painter ripped Jacopino Scipioni. Other gem not to be missed is the astonishing crib they carve pine cladding (see photo) in size. A must see!

  • On every occasion in Bergamo I like to come back to this Church where meditation is really total and where prayer comes unbidden.

  • Where now stands the Church of s. Maria Immacolata delle Grazie was the Church of the Franciscan Monastery founded by St. Bernardino in 1422 as the seal of the Holy peace had operated between rival political factions. The redevelopment of downtown operated in the mid-19th century to allow the opening of the Boulevard that leads to the station led to the demolition of the old church; However the ancient complex cherishes the cloister (visits from Viale Papa Giovanni XXIII, 13) and many of the artworks that now adorn the new Church: the miraculous fresco of the Holy Jesus trasfuguratosi in 1608 and now revered on the precious wooden altar by the Caniana family (1761), the Madonna and Saints by Giambettino Cignaroli (1752), the Madonna and Saints by Giampaolo Cavagna (1619), the Madonna and San Diego by Enea Salmeggia (1594)the cycle of frescoes by Jacopino Scipioni depicting the life of St. Francis (1507) and other 15th-century frescoes. The current system of the Church, built between 1857 and 1875 a Greek cross in neoclassical style by the Architect Antonio Prey, which managed to harmonise the volumes of the new church with buildings still in situ, thus making the monumental complex of the graces the heart of the city. The pictorial decoration of the new Church, which culminates in the glory of Mary (1865-68) painted in the dome, you must to Henry dark, Director of the school of painting at the Accademia Carrara, and his students.
