  • Old town is a fascinating place as are the villages of many Italian cities built during the medieval period surrounded by ramparts and towers that rise through the alleys. The palazzo del Podesta is one of these eesempi.

  • I go to visit the exhibition "when Italy was drawing the world map" and, beyond the beautiful and rich structured collection and multimedia systems adopted, what amazes is the preparation, infinite politeness and helpfulness of the staff, just perfect and that is a credit to the city too often accustomed to "guardians" who doze in the halls or, if younger , spend their time worrying about their own smartphone: not at Podesta's Palace where the few employees will bend over four, are ubiquitous and, if you pause and grab his glasses to better evaluate a geographical map, come equipped with a magnifying glass. It's nice to see people so serious and they do their work with passion, they make you feel proud to be Italian, even when as in this exhibition look wistfully the days when Italy was at the center of the world and not to the 80th place in the Transparency Index.

  • The building is well maintained with beautiful frescoes and has a curious interactive museum, very addictive, which helps you discover the city's history but also the mentality of the great travelers. Suitable for children and not only!
